Algae & Chlorella
Phytoplankton is definitely a unique superfood! It is the base of the food chain and therefore contains an impressive array of nutrients including Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA), protein, chlorophyll, amino acids, minerals, pigments, enzymes and trace elements.
Phytoplankton is an important food source for many marine animals and, thanks to recent photo bioreactor technology, is now available to humans. Phytoplankton provides fish with the healthy omega-3 fatty acids such as EPA. Thanks to this new technology, we can skip a step in the food chain and no longer rely strictly on eating fish or fish oil. This is good news for vegetarians or vegans, but also guarantees a product that is pollution-free.
In addition to Phytoplankton, we also have another green goodie, Chlorella. Completely organic, grown in the Netherlands. Chlorella is known for its ability to help detoxify the body. Human and animal studies indicate that it is effective in removing heavy metals and other harmful substances from the body.
In addition, chlorella has been shown to help reduce the amount of other harmful chemicals sometimes found in food. One of these is dioxin, an endocrine disruptor commonly found in animal foods.
